PPC U14 Boys Win Warminster Pre-Season Tournament

The Prior Park U14 Boys team romped to an emphatic victory at the inaugural Warminster invitational tournament last Saturday, sweeping aside all opposition on their way to lifting the trophy.

The boys opened with victories over the hosts Warminster and St. John's College, Southsea in the round robin pool stages before progressing into the knockout stages where they met and overcame St Edwards school, Cheltenham.

In the final Prior met local rivals Monkton Combe, ironically enough their opening fixture of the season proper, adding to the pressure of the occasion. After a tough and physical opening few minutes, the Prior boys broke loose and scored 5 tries to no reply on their way to the title.

Final Tally was played 4, won 4 with 16 tries scored and (most pleasingly) none conceded. Although sterner tests will undoubtedly lie in store, it was a highly promising start to the season with impressive performances across the team built on solid contact skills and a flawless pressure defence. Roll on the rest of the season!
